Brick grew up in Citadel Rishter, the only bastion of warmth in the southern ice flats. Though every member of his family had a natural connection to the river, studying magic was secondary to the study of law. By the age of 24 Brick became a lawyer, joining his family's firm. However, he gave up the profession years later, after becoming disillusioned with the current legal system, despite his family’s history in crafting it.

After traveling the Six Citadels searching for purpose, he found honor among the folk who tended to the Sacred Rail, and ultimately swore an oath to their order. With the goal of unification and protection of others at the heart of the Order of the Rail, Brick could at last use his talents to serve the realm without the constraints of a courtroom. He’s had many journeys since, discovering new forms of magic, adopting Ada when she was a lost child, and even gaining a position of command within the order.

He is the current teacher of Ada and Frey, his two squires, though Frey has been recently knighted.
